Sonder’s holistic triage is the first step to support, guiding each member through a personalised pathway that considers their unique needs. Inspired by the Māori Te Whare Tapa Whā approach, this evidence-based model assesses physical, mental, social, and cultural health.
The holistic triage approach assesses each member’s needs to identify the most suitable pathway—whether that’s safety, medical, or mental health support. This evidence-based model is not a booking service but rather a comprehensive first step with Care Specialists qualified in psych first aid and emergency response.

When a member’s needs require clinical support, registered nurses conduct detailed assessments using the Manchester Triage System. This approach helps prioritise and address complex concerns, connecting members with appropriate support for medical, mental health, or safety needs.
Sonder provides continued support, following up with members to ensure their wellbeing needs are being met. For moderate or higher-severity issues, Nurses may reach out within 24 hours, offering additional guidance as needs evolve.
