About the role

We’re looking for a driven Mid-Level DevOps Engineer to help scale and secure our cloud-based platform. You’ll automate infrastructure, manage CI/CD pipelines, and optimise cloud applications to ensure high performance and availability. Using tools like Jenkins, and Docker, you’ll play a crucial role in supporting our rapid growth and maintaining system reliability. This is a hands-on, impactful role where you’ll collaborate with diverse teams, tackle complex challenges, and directly contribute to the success of Sonder’s platform.

What you’ll be doing

• Automating Infrastructure: Use CDK, and CloudFormation to automate infrastructure provisioning, ensuring scalable, repeatable deployments.
• Managing CI/CD Pipelines: Work with Jenkins and similar tools to automate code integration, testing, and deployment pipelines for efficient software delivery.
• Containerisation & Orchestration: Leverage Docker to manage containerised applications, ensuring scalability, resilience, and seamless operations.
• Cloud Management: Deploy, manage, and optimise applications and infrastructure on AWS (or other cloud platforms) to maintain high availability.
• Monitoring & Observability: Use monitoring tools to track performance, logs, and system health, ensuring timely issue detection and resolution.
• Incident Response & Security: Proactively identify and address system vulnerabilities, ensuring compliance with security best practices and safeguarding critical infrastructure.
• Collaboration: Partner with cross-functional teams, providing infrastructure support and sharing best practices to drive continuous improvement.

Who are we looking for?

What you bring to the team;

• 4-5+ years of experience in DevOps or Cloud Engineering, with a focus on infrastructure, automation, and security.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• Strong scripting and automation skills with Python or Shell scripting to automate tasks and improve efficiency.
• Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like CDK, or CloudFormation.
• Proficiency with AWS (or other cloud platforms) for deploying, managing, and optimising cloud-based applications.
• Expertise in CI/CD with tools like Jenkins for automating integration, testing, and deployment pipelines.
• Knowledge of containerisation and orchestration using Docker.
• Strong understanding of networking fundamentals, including DNS, load balancers, firewalls, and VPNs.
• Experience with monitoring, observability tools, and ensuring system health.
• Growth mindset with a commitment to continuous learning, problem-solving, and team collaboration.
